📋

General & Licensing

Are you licensed by the State of Illinois?

Yes. Arco Iris Home DayCare is fully licensed and regularly inspected by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). We maintain required certifications including CPR, First Aid, and background checks for every caregiver.

What ages do you accept?

We welcome children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, with age-appropriate programming for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our small mixed-age environment encourages mentorship, empathy, and natural language learning.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Flexible early drop-off and late pick-up options may be available for an additional fee. We follow a simplified holiday calendar aligned with local school districts.

How many children do you care for at once?

We maintain low child-to-caregiver ratios that meet or exceed Illinois DCFS guidelines, so every child receives personal attention and never feels lost in the crowd.

🥗

Health, Meals & Safety

Do you provide meals and snacks?

Yes. Meals and snacks are fresh, homemade, and prepared daily with whole ingredients. We prioritize balanced nutrition, avoid processed foods, and share rotating weekly menus with families in advance.

How do you handle food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Safety comes first. We use allergy-aware protocols, separate prep areas, clear labeling, and caregiver training on emergency response. During enrollment, we create a personalized care plan for restrictions or allergies.

What is your sick policy?

To protect all children, kids should stay home with fever of 100.4°F or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rash, or contagious conditions. Children may return once symptom-free for 24 hours without medication, or with a doctor’s note.

Is your home childproofed and safe?

Absolutely. Our space includes secure gates, outlet covers, anchored furniture, non-toxic cleaning products, daily safety checks, and emergency preparedness plans for weather, fire, or medical situations.

Daily Life & Curriculum

How do you incorporate bilingual learning?

English and Spanish flow naturally through songs, stories, circle time, play, and gentle guidance. We immerse children in both languages through joyful daily interaction rather than isolated lessons.

What does a typical day look like?

Mornings begin with free play and breakfast, followed by art, music, outdoor time, and bilingual storytime. After lunch, children rest or enjoy calm learning stations. Each day balances movement, creativity, connection, and rest.

Do you do potty training?

Yes. We partner with families and support toddlers who show readiness signs with gentle routines, consistency, and positive reinforcement, while staying aligned with your home approach.

How do you communicate with parents?

Daily. Families receive digital updates through app or email with photos, meals eaten, nap times, diaper changes or potty attempts, and highlights. We are also available by text or call for quick questions.

📝

Enrollment & Logistics

How do I enroll my child?

Start by scheduling a no-pressure visit. After the tour, if Arco Iris feels like the right fit, we share the enrollment packet with forms, policies, and payment details. A spot is secured with a signed agreement and deposit.

What is your tuition and payment policy?

Tuition is charged weekly and varies by age group and days attended. We accept bank transfer, Zelle, or check. Detailed rates are shared during your visit, and payment plans can be discussed when needed.

Do you offer part-time or drop-in care?

Our focus is consistent full-time or part-time enrollment because stable routines help children thrive. Limited drop-in spots may be available for enrolled families.

What should my child bring each day?

Infants should bring diapers, wipes, bottles or formula, and a change of clothes. Toddlers and preschoolers should bring labeled spare clothes, a comfort item if needed, and weather-appropriate outerwear. We provide meals, snacks, materials, and bedding for rest time.

What if I’m running late for pick-up?

Life happens. Please call or text as soon as you know. We offer a 15-minute grace period; after that, a small late fee applies to support caregivers’ time. Consistent late pick-ups may require a schedule adjustment.

From Question to Confident Yes

We keep communication simple, personal, and transparent from your first message to your child’s first day.

1. Ask freely

Big questions, tiny details, nervous-parent thoughts—we welcome all of them.

2. See the answer in action

During your visit, policies become real: spaces, routines, meals, materials, and caregiver rhythm.

3. Decide with confidence

If Arco Iris feels right, enrollment is explained step by step—clear forms, clear policies, clear next move.
